CCI One Year Bible Reading

6.20.10

1 Kings 22:1-53
Acts 13:16-41

13: 32 And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers. 33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:

‘ You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.

John - The disciples declared "GLAD TIDINGS" that He has made us Son's of God! This is a gender perfect term... including daughters, what an amazing word that God would give us a new family!

Psalm 138:1-8

1388 The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;

John - These words have comforted me many times when uncertainty is all I can see, the Lord knows the perfect way, and will perfect the way in my life past all my concerns...

Proverbs 17:17-18

17 18 A man devoid of understanding shakes hands in a pledge,
And becomes surety for his friend.

John - You lack understanding if you pledge for another man, even you friend..

  1. Acts 13:32 A promise is a promise to keep when spoken by the word of God; though it tarry, wait on it.The fulfillment of a word will come in it's proper time and at the right season.Many times we will only "test drive" the car, but our children will actually own it.The right gift at the right time from a loving father is a valuable thing.

  2. Psalm 138:8 When a child plays with his toys they sometimes break as a result of his "playful" activity.He lifts it up to his loving father to fix, who gladly receives it for total repairs.The toy box gets repaired and made new again just like the toys inside, yet even this is being done in it's proper timing.

  3. Prov. 17:17 I can't tell you what my friend may or may not do.Therefore, to co-sign with him is to say ,if my friend fails in his obligation to pay I will repay that which is owed.With no vested interest and no real depth to recover from the loss, this is a foolish thing to do. Yet there is one who sticks closer than a brother and he will always forgive the debt, because he has vested interest in us.He gave his life as a ransom for the sins of the whole world.

  4. A merry heart does good like medicine- Lord, Help me to have a merry heart. The very thing I desire - JOY - is wrapped up in this. If I can just rejoice in my heart about the God I serve. Lord help me to purpose to be grateful. I seek joy by trying to create experiences I believe will bring me joy....But Happy is he who does the will of the Lord. How can I be happy- by doing God's will. Help me to see happiness and joy as being found in the Lord.
