John 1:1-28


1: 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

John - To THEM... he GAVE THE RIGHT... it is up to us when we receive HIM with are GIVEN the right to be called children of GOD!


Psalm 101:1-8

101: 6 My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land,
That they may dwell with me;
He who walks in a perfect way,
He shall serve me.

John - If you want to know where Gods eyes are they are on the faithful of the land!


Proverbs 14:13-14

14:13 Even in laughter the heart may sorrow, And the end of mirth may be grief. 

14 The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, But a good man will be satisfied from above.

John - The backslider is focused on HIS OWN WAYS, but a Good man will be SATISFIED from above, Lord help us learn to be satisfied from ABOVE!

24:32 And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

John - This is something I experience when someone is saying the very words of God, my heart seems to burn within me with Gods fire...

Psalm 100:1-5

100: 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
5 For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

John - If you are looking for something to praise Him about and bless His name... THINK of his GOODNESS, MERCY and His Enduring truth!!

Proverbs 14:11-12

14:11 The house of the wicked will be overthrown,
But the tent of the upright will flourish.
12 There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.

John - The TENT of the upright flourishes and the HOUSE of the wicked is overthrown.. Give me the TENT that flourishes! Lord help us to walk in you WAY not the one that SEEMS right to us... One is death, one is life!

24:12 But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.

John - Notice when Peter heard he arose and RAN, what a heart still... then after seeing Jesus had risen he marveled at what had happened, even after Jesus had told them many time... This is how it is in our lives we marvel at what happens even after the Lord has told us things many times..

Psalm 99:1-9

99:8 You answered them, O LORD our God;
You were to them God-Who-Forgives,
Though You took vengeance on their deeds.

John - This is our God... the God-Who-Forgives, but His forgiving was not free, it cost the most precious thing in heaven, the gift of His son... Remember Forgiveness wasnt free to God!

Proverbs 14:9-10

14:9 Fools mock at sin,
But among the upright there is favor.

John - But.... among the upright (those God has made righteous by the gift of salvation, not our behavior) there is FAVOR... this is God precious hand upon the circumstances of life.

John - Jesus asked Father to forgive the people crucifying Him, because they knew not what they were doing... WHAT GREAT FORGIVENESS, WHAT GREAT LOVE!

Psalm 97-98:9
Proverbs 14:7-8

14:7 Go from the presence of a foolish man,
When you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way,
But the folly of fools is deceit.

John - Our lips SO often reveal what we have either knowledge or foolishness, listen to what you say, let the Lord teach you and in other leave the foolish man to his own destruction, he will not listen.

22:61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows,[c] you will deny Me three times.”

John - WOW I never realize just how close to Peter, Jesus was when all this was taking place.

23:12 That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other.

John - Even enemies can agree on something when they hate someone, don't be surprised if your enemies team up against you.

Psalm 95-96:13

96:13 before the LORD.
For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth.
He shall judge the world with righteousness,
And the peoples with His truth.

John - Interesting He will judge the WORLD with righteousness and the peoples with HIS truth, God will accomplish His word in all that He does.

Proverbs 14:5-6

14:5 A faithful witness does not lie,
But a false witness will utter lies.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it,
But knowledge is easy to him who understands.

John - Knowledge is EASY... our world does not tell us this... But God says to him who understands.. Understands what? That knowledge comes from God and if we know Him and His ways it becomes easy.

John - PRAY that you may not enter into temptation... this is the way to battle IT, pray that you will not event ENTER temptation...


Psalm 94:1-23

94:11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man,
That they are futile.


John - God knows our thoughts... and if they are not aligned with His thoughts.. they are FUTILE.

Proverbs 14:3-4

14:3 In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride,
But the lips of the wise will preserve them.

4 Where no oxen are, the trough is clean;
But much increase comes by the strength of an ox.

John - The fools home had a ROD like the (branch in your eye when you focus on the splinter in your brothers eye) and it is PRIDE, but the LIPS (the place of you words) will preserve the wise..

John - These truths are SO simple YET so POWERFUL... he who serves the table is GREATER!

Psalm 92-93:5

92:13 Those who are planted in the house of the LORD
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

John - Planted in the house (home, abode, family) shall flourish in the courts (city, village, neighborhood)

Proverbs 14:1-2

14:1 The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.

2 He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD,
But he who is perverse in his ways despises Him.

John - woman you have a choice whether to build your house! or pull it down... Wise or Foolishness determines what you receive.

John - Then.... interesting it was not always that way with Judas.... but THEN...

90:8 You have set our iniquities before You,
Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.

John - In the light of these words... imagine our iniquities set before Him... And our secrets in His light! Lord we need your help ALWAYS!

Proverbs 13:24-25

13:24 He who spares his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

25 The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul,
But the stomach of the wicked shall be in want.

John - But he who loves him disciplines him PROMPTLY.. WOW, I have never seen this before.. it has a time frame attached to it..

John - Notice the SETTLE IN YOUR heart and do not spend time meditating or thinking beforehand what you will answer God will give you the words, and His answers in you NO ADVERSARIES will be able to contradict or RESIST!

John - With God it is not logical but SUPER NATURAL.. imagine one man chasing a 1000 men... WOW! You are a one man army.

20:38 For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.”

John - This is important, our GOD is the God of the living, if you are with Him HE is alive.. which means you will be alive...

A wicked messenger falls into trouble,
But a faithful ambassador brings health.

John - Lord, let us be faithful ambassadors... bring the GOOD NEWS, that others might receive health from YOU!

John - When we as believers think we have it tough, look at what Jesus went through... they were ALWAYS around trying to prove He was telling a lie, and HE WAS THE TRUTH, they were always trying to kill Him while He was giving people NEW LIFE, they were always trying to trick Him while He was trying to train them...

Psalm 89:1-13

Proverbs 13:15-16

13:15 Good understanding gains favor,
But the way of the unfaithful is hard.
16 Every prudent man acts with knowledge,
But a fool lays open his folly.


John - EVERY prudent man acts with KNOWLEDGE, not just emotions, or logic, but divine knowledge...

John - Jesus saw the city, loved the people, had the answer, was rejected, and knew they had missed their opportunity.

Proverbs 13:12-14

13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

13 He who despises the word will be destroyed,
But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.

John - Hope postponed makes my heart weak.. but when it comes it is a TREE OF LIFE.. It is a rewarding, encouraging, life giving force..

John - This is opposite of how we mostly think today, we want to take from who has and give it to who doesn't, here Jesus is showing if you are faithful with what you have... You will receive even more, if you are not faithful, what you have will be taken and given to someone who is..

Psalm 87:1-7
Proverbs 13:11

13:11 Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished,
But he who gathers by labor will increase.

John - How you get wealth, determines what will happen to it... Dishonest gain will DIMINISH... but wealth gathered by honest labor will INCREASE!

As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

John - They could not drive out the Jebusites? ... Could not drive them out - Namely, because of their unbelief, as Christ could do no mighty work, because of the peoples unbelief, Mark 6:5,6 Matt 13:58... But this was before David's time, when the Jebusites were quite expelled, and their fort taken. David BELIEVED!


Luke 18:18-43

18:42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

John - Notice Jesus keeps pointing people back to THEIR faith... That what made you well... YOUR FAITH..


Psalm 86:1-17

86:3 For great is Your mercy toward me,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

John - This is one immeasurable truth! His mercy is great toward me & you!

Proverbs 13:9-10

13:9 The light of the righteous rejoices,
But the lamp of the wicked will be put out.
10 By pride comes nothing but strife,
But with the well-advised is wisdom.

John - One of God great gifts is giving us others to help us be "well-advised"

14:12 Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said.”

John - This is Joseph at 85 years old! He was talking about taking the land God had promised him, Lord let us have this kind of heart at 85!

Luke 18:1-17

18:1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, 2 saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.

John - Jesus shared this story to show the importance of PERSISTENCE, saying even the judge who did not fear God was moved by persistence, how much more so our heavenly father.

18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

John - The key to this walk is humility, if you walk this way God will exalt you, if you exalt yourself... You know a humbling is coming soon..

Psalm 85:1-13
Proverbs 13:7-8

13:7 There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing;
And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.
8 The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke.

John - Whatever you consider the most important in your life (your riches) you have to lay down ownership of to follow JESUS! It is a ransom for you heart.

John - When people say "it is here" if it is there it is because you or I or they are there! We carry the kingdom of God!


Psalm 84:1-12

84:5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.

John - Whose heart is SET on the pilgrimage, the journey, NOT the destination.... Lord help up focus, set and determine to put our hearts focused on the PILGRIMAGE... In this is blessings....

Proverbs 13:5-6

5 A righteous man hates lying,
But a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame.

John - Righteousness creates in us a hatred for the things God hates, like lying.

John - The children of Israel make a covenant without asking Gods council and believed a lie, God still held them to it!

Luke 16:19-17:10

17:3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

John - Very clear if your brother sins against you REBUKE Him! If he repents FORGIVE HIM... This is Gods plan...

Psalm 83:1-18
Proverbs 13:4

13:4 The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing;
But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

John - You SOUL, (mind, will, emotions) is made RICH through diligent pursuit of Gods ways.

John - When your enemies find out about how God is prospering you, they will often come together in ONE ACCORD to fight you, trust that God is great than any enemy!

Luke 16:1-18

16:8 So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.
9 “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home.

John - The master COMMENDED the unjust, wow... for being shrewd
(prudently) with mammon... USE mammon in a way that when it fails.... you have gained friends!

Psalm 82:1-8
Proverbs 13:2-3

2 A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth,
But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence.
3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life,
But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

John - What you say is what you are EATING... WOW... Lord please help me change how I speak... He who GUARDS his mouth... PRESERVES... HIS LIFE.. Guarding what you say will protect your LIFE!

John - When God is with someone, the difference is noticeable.

Luke 15:1-32

15:7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

John - Heaven is filled with JOY over ONE sinner who repents... We should rejoice over what heaven does!


Psalm 81:1-16
Proverbs 13:1

13:
1 A wise son heeds his father’s instruction,
But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

John - By how we receive instruction, we show our wisdom and our understanding.

John - Joshua walked with Moses and saw all the Lord did through Him... When God told him I will be with YOU like I was with Moses, HE knew exactly what that was about!

Luke 13:22-14:6

14:1 Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely.

John - Jesus was always under watch, part of follow Jesus is other watch us... CLOSELY, trust God to make what they see a reflection of who you love!

Psalm 79:1-13
Proverbs 12:26

12:26 The righteous should choose his friends carefully,
For the way of the wicked leads them astray.

John - The way of the wick LEADS them astray...... MAKE SURE you choose you inner circle (friends) WISELY, Carefully, thoughtfully.... we become like who we spend the majority of our time with!

John - Where ever the kingdom of God is place it will take over until it is all kingdom.... That why we should allow it to be placed, and grow in us!

Psalm 78:65-72

78: 70 He also chose David His servant,
And took him from the sheepfolds;


John - When God chooses you, it means He wants to use you... and take you to another level, like Sheep to Nation....

Proverbs 12:25

12:25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
But a good word makes it glad.

John - Good words turn into gladness when they are heard and received!

John - If you are given - there is a requirement based on that, if you have things committed to you - more will be asked of you. Lord let us ask and understand when we receive!

Psalm 78:56-64
Proverbs 12:24

24 The hand of the diligent will rule,
But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

John - Diligence is a kingdom principle, if you point it toward good things they grow, if you point it toward evil things they grow. Diligence is food for tasks.

John - Beware of covetousness -
seeks rather to grasp what it has not; the second, to retain, and, by accumulating, to multiply that which it already has. Life does not consist in things...

Psalm 78:32-55

78:55 He also drove out the nations before them,
Allotted them an inheritance by survey,
And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.


John - God allotted them by survey, God gave them a gift, but it had boundaries of which to stay within.

Proverbs 12:21-23

12: 22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD,
But those who deal truthfully are His delight.

John - When we deal truthfully it DELIGHTS God, what a thought you can make God please, delighted, full of joy just by dealing truthfully.

11:39 Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness. 40 Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.

John - Rather... than clean the outside of the cup, GIVE ALMS, of what you have and indeed ALL things are clean TO you! Not just the outside but also the inside.

Psalm 78:1-31

78:20 Behold, He struck the rock,
So that the waters gushed out,
And the streams overflowed.
Can He give bread also?
Can He provide meat for His people?”


21 Therefore the LORD heard this and was furious;
So a fire was kindled against Jacob,
And anger also came up against Israel,
22 Because they did not believe in God,
And did not trust in His salvation.



John - When the children of Israel started asking Can He give bread, Can He provide meat, God heard it and was furious! Because they did not trust in his salvation or believe in Him.... GOD CAN.... This is the start... KNOWING HE CAN! Then the second part is BELIEVING He will....

Proverbs 12:19-20

12:19 The truthful lip shall be established forever,
But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have joy.

John - Truth is an establishing, eternal thing, not a temporary fad or idea. When we speak truth we are ESTABLISHING things eternally.

John - Obedience will COMMAND the blessings on you in all to which you set your hand to! God desires to bless.


Luke 11:14-36

11:23 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

John - If you think you just dont have to be FOR Him... here is the answer, if you are not "WITH ME" then you are "against me" says Jesus. If you are not gathering, then you are scattering.

Psalm 77:1-20
Proverbs 12:18

12:18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword,
But the tongue of the wise promotes health.

John - The words of the wise promote, encourage, add health to the listener.

10: 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

John - Martha was DISTRACTED not by evil things, not by selfish things, BUT WITH MUCH SERVING... Interesting isn't it that the thing we are to do as a result can be a distraction if done in the wrong timing, or from being worried and troubled.. BUT ONE thing is needed, Be with JESUS, that's all that is needed.


Psalm 76:1-12

76:11 Make vows to the LORD your God, and pay them;
Let all who are around Him bring presents to Him who ought to be feared.

John - When you make a vow to God, pay it, don't waver, don't change, pay it.

Proverbs 12:15-17

12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
But he who heeds counsel is wise.

John - Fools think they are right all the time, wise take council from people God places in their life and realize some other people need to have input into their life.

John - DO not rejoice about the power God gives you and authority over spirits, but that we HAVE eternal life because our names are WRITTEN in heaven.

Psalm 75:1-10

75: 10 “All the horns of the wicked I will also cut off,

But the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”

John - horn-of strength, flask (container for oil)... Your strength will be exalted for the righteous, but the wicked strength will be CUT OFF.

Proverbs 12:12-14

13 The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips,
But the righteous will come through trouble.
14 A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth,
And the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.


John - The wicked get TRAPPED by the transgression of his lips... imprisoned, but the righteous will come through trouble... A man will be satisfied by the "FRUIT OF HIS MOUTH" in this we see you can also be HUNGRY because of the things you SAY!

55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”

John - The disciples wanted to use Gods power to defend Jesus, and Jesus said they didn't know what manner of spirit they WERE, what their CORE was, Jesus said the spirit of God is here to SAVE lives NOT destroy them!

Psalm 74:1-23
Proverbs 12:11

1211 He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread,
But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.

John - A man who works the thing God has given him, will be satisfied with the results of it. If you operate in frivolity you are devoid of understanding.

CCI Opelika One Year Bible Reading 2010

4.1.10

Deuteronomy 18-20:20

20: 3 And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; 4 for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’

John - for the Lord your God is He who goes with you.... not just to be a by stander but to fight for you against your enemies and SAVE YOU!!

Luke 9:28-50


9:43 And they were all amazed at the majesty of God.

John - majesty- greatness, magnificence

9:9 Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.”
50 But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.”

John - What a principle that could be applied today... DO NOT FORBID, if anyone is not against Jesus they are on our side!

Psalm 73:1-28
Proverbs 12:10

12:10 A righteous man regards the life of his animal,
But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

John - A righteous man, is even sensitive of the life of his animals, knowing the everything is ultimately Gods and a part of His creation.
