CCI Opelika One Year Bible Reading 2010

Genesis 1-2:25 14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.


Signs - Strong's H226 - 'owth

John – sun and moon should help us remember our God, it is a distinguishing mark of His goodness, it is a banner in the sky! How great is our God! It is like the fire by night and the cloud by day for the Israelites..



Seasons - Strong's H4150 - mow`ed

John – Our seasons are appointed.. like season of growth, pruning, mourning, making change and learning to be consistent, God ordained season from the beginning the Day and Night continually reaffirm this…


27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

John – We were created with a purpose in mind, not just thrown together but designed by a great designer Male was created for a purpose and Female was created for a purpose… Hmmm….. Ok what then is the purpose of each?



2: 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

John – God blessed a sanctified (set aside) day of rest…. God needed rest? What about me?



2: 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

John- Even in the perfect environment without sin God place something to allow me to have the choice, in Eden there was something I still had to choose not to do… Hmmm..

2: 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.


Leave - Strong's H5800 - `azab

עָזַב

1) to depart from, leave behind, leave, let alone

2) to leave, abandon, forsake, neglect, apostatise

3) to let loose, set free, let go, free



John – What does this leave look like? How did Jesus leave? What does it mean to “loose, or set my family free?”


Naked

John – Hmmm…. In the beginning we were totally bare and not ashamed, God has for me to live “not ashamed”


Matthew 1-2:12 6 and Jesse begot David the king.

David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.

John – God turned the failure of David into a blessing, God can redeem our mistakes.



Psalm 1:1-6 1 Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

John – listening to the ungodly will remove you from being blessed,


Path - Strong's H1870 - derek

John – I cannot be blessed in the habits and manners of sinners, the moral character on their road will derail my blessings.

John – I cannot stay or remain around where scornful people are on a consistent basis.
