1.4.10
Genesis 8-10:32
821 And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
Matthew 4:12-25
419 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
John – When God speaks to us He expects us to move immediately..
Ty: They must have immediately recognized something different about Jesus. Jesus simply said, " Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men". Either Matthew did not record the entire conversation or story of Andrew and Peter's first meeting with Jesus, or it did not take much convincing for them to follow him. Obviously what was written was supposed to be written, but I wonder if these were the only words spoken ... Simon and Andrew couldn't have understood what this statement meant. They must have been moved by the authority in which he spoke the words or by the presence that he brought with him? Also, How much training did simon and Andrew have in Old Testament Scripture? Would the thought of Jesus being the Christ ever cross their mind, or was this not until later?
422 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
423 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.
John – Are we preaching the gospel of the kingdom? Good news about Gods kingdom or just a better life?
Ty: This statement strikes me. I struggle with presenting the gospel. I often seem to take the simplicity and power out of the good news about God's kingdom. I try to flood the good news with news that presents an external life-change instead of an internal life-change. Why do believers sometimes fear the simplicity of presenting the gospel as it is written, or worry about getting a cold response? I have always thought my testimony was inadequate, and people are not interested in my experience. I pray that God reveals to me how to present his story instead of mine, or help me overcome the pride that is within me that wants to "beef up" my testimony and his gospel. I know he says that he will give us the words to speak, so either the words that I speak are adequate for that purpose or I am not listening.
Psalm 4:1-8
Proverbs 1:20-23 23 Turn at my rebuke;
Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.
John – repentance and wisdom are eternally tied together.

Day 4
8:17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”
9:7 And as for you, be fruitful and multiply;
9:1 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.[a]9:7 Bring forth abundantly in the earth
And multiply in it.”
Laura- God said be fruitful and multiply 3 times.
8:20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.21 And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.
Laura: It looks as if Noah's offering was so pleasing to the Lord that it moved God's heart to bless him and make the promise to never destroy every living thing again.
Ps 4:3 But know that the LORD has set apart[a] for Himself him who is godly;
The LORD will hear when I call to Him.
Laura: Praise the Lord that He hears me when I call. This is comfort to know God is on my team.
