3.31.10

Deuteronomy 16-17:20

17:7 The hands of the witnesses shall be the first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall put away the evil from among you.

John - Interesting they would make the person who made the accusation follow through with the punishment.

Luke 9:7-27

9:14 For there were about five thousand men.
Then He said to His disciples, “Make them sit down in groups of fifty.” 15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.

John - Notice Jesus had them sit down in small groups... Small groups were used throughout the movement of the New Testament.

Psalm 72:1-20
Proverbs 12:8-9

12:8 A man will be commended according to his wisdom,
But he who is of a perverse heart will be despised.

John - We are commended based on our wisdom we are also know we can perish for a lack of knowledge... Wisdom and knowledge are so important.

  1. Deut. 17:7 The putting away of evil has been the greatest challenge to man yet. Whether it's the life of self-discipline, child disciplining or church discipline it's never easy.

  2. Luke 9:14 The disciples at this point had no idea that they were about to become wittness to one of the greatest miracles ever recorded. We may be asked by God to do a very simple act like "have the men sit in groups", yet they sat for a purpose, to be fed and to be accounted for.
