CCI One Year Bible Reading

6.26.10

2 Kings 9:14-10:31
Acts 17:1-34

1721 For all the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing.

John - There is a group in every generation who are NEW thinkers who love knowledge who see Jesus as another NEW idea, another WAY... this is to their same HE is not A WAY but THE WAY... this is seen as "close minded" to the NEW thinker.

Psalm 144:1-15
Proverbs 17:27-28

1727 He who has knowledge spares his words,
And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.
28 Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace;
When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.

John - The power of being quiet is amazing, EVEN a fool who keeps his lips shut is CONSIDERED perceptive. Sparing your words, staying calm and quiet will change the life of the person who walks this way.

  1. Ps. 144:15 Happy are the people whose God is the Lord...
    These people's state is...
Sons are as plants grown up in their youth
Daughters as pillars sculptured in palace style
    Barns are full
    Supplying all kinds of produce
    Sheep bring forth thousands
    Oxen are well laden
There is no breaking in or going out.
There is no outcry in the streets

  2. Acts 17:21 Many times people treat the things of God like a recently opened restaurant, they just want to try the "new thing".The people that were gathered in Athens thought the Gospel was like all the other philosophies and doctrines.Little did they know that Paul was not delivering just another idea or thought which had derived from the intelect of man, but it was the inspired truth and it never changes.

  3. Prov 17:27 One who rambles on shows his ignorance through his many words.Despite his answers, truth is always waiting and always lurking waiting to be heard, then it's spoken.
