17 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

John - If we walk in the light (the area of God’s illumination and revelation) we have fellowship with one another and cleansing as a by product!! What a benefit!

Psalm 119:153-176
Proverbs 28:23-24

2823 He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward, Than he who flatters with the tongue.

John - When we speak the truth in love, there is a greater reward than trying to win favor by saying things to someone to get them to like you.

523 And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

John - “the God who holds your breath in His hands and owns all your ways...”, this is a powerful description of our GOD! Think of it every breathe HE holds, and He OWNS your ways.

2 Peter 2:1-22

221 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

John - It is better to never have know the truth, thank to know it and turn away from it afterwards. You are accountable for what you know.

Proverbs 28:19-20

2820 A faithful man will abound with blessings,
But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

John - faithful (stability in fulfilling promises) will abound in blessings (prosperity, extremely fortune and happy) … but... he who hastens (press, urge oneself, withdraw for) the purpose to be rich (to put together, build up for ONESELF) will not go unpunished (exempt from obligation and innocent)

120 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

John - When God give us divine words it will always line up with His character and written words, it will not be by the will of man, but His will alone!

Proverbs 28:17-18

28 18 Whoever walks blamelessly will be saved, But he who is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall.

John - We all know, in our hearts, that how we walk (live) is a powerful and protective aspect of our lives.

329 Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

John - That says it all... THERE IS NO OTHER GOD WHO CAN DELIVER LIKE THIS!

1 Peter 4:7-5:14

56 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

John - It is a choice of our will, the question is “Will we humble ourselves?” …. it is the door way to like, as we cast our cares, by knowing who is in charge and who knows best.... we become free!

Proverbs 28:15-16

2816 A ruler who lacks understanding is a great oppressor, But he who hates covetousness will prolong his days.

John - If we hate covetousness (unjust gain, or gain by violence) you will add to your days... We have to know what to hate and why..

41 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

John - We live, breathe, have our being and fight this fight of life with what ever mind we ARM our selves with. Lord let us each day be ARMED with the power of the Holy Spirit and love!

Proverbs 28:14

2814 Happy is the man who is always reverent,
But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

John - Reverent (to be cautious and timid as you think about the Lord and toward His commands.)

John - We can through consistent faith and obedience, put the words of the prople who speak foolishly abot us to rest. By living in freedom but not abusing it and knowing we are free but still choosing to be a servant to God!

Psalm 119:49-64
Proverbs 28:12-13

28 13 He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

John - God blesses us and covers our sins with mercy, as we obey and confess.

John - By Gods design, Jesus is either precious (and of endless value) or if you are disobedient to Gods word, he is a thing to show you that you stumble and an immovable offense!

Proverbs 28:11

11 The rich man is wise in his own eyes, But the poor who has understanding searches him out.

John - The rich man in pride thinks he know all, but the poor man who has Gods understanding finds him out, knows his ways.

John - We have the privilege to know by the Holy Spirit and experience the things the angels desire to look into.

Psalm 119:17-32

119:23 Princes also sit and speak against me,
But Your servant meditates on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my delight
And my counselors.

John - We gain strength by meditating on Gods statutes, His words are a delight to those who desire to hear them... they council us and comfort us!

Proverbs 28:8-10

28 10 Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, He himself will fall into his own pit; But the blameless will inherit good.

John - If we walk according to Gods statutes we will INHERIT (receive good from one who walked before us) blessings.

517 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

John - Elijah was like us but when he prayed it would not rain... for 3 ½ years it did not rain. That is an example of the power of prayer, the power we have when we pray and believe!

Psalm 119:1-16

11910 With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

John - By hiding Gods word in our hearts it anchors us to the truth and helps us NOT WANDER from His commandments!

Proverbs 28:6-7

28 7 Whoever keeps the law is a discerning son, But a companion of gluttons shames his father.

John - We can bring shame to our father if we spend time with people who do not have restraint! (gluttons - to be worthless, be vile, be insignificant, squander)

John - This draws a clear line to teach us, listen to the Holy Spirit and do what you know is good.

28 5 Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the LORD understand all.

John - The byproduct of seeking the Lord is you gain HIS understanding, which give you access to know all things, because you can see them on the backdrop of eternity.

John - When we see envy and self-seeking... we know the by product of those is confusion and evil things... BUT wisdom from God shows itself in peace, gentleness, willing to yield, someone full of mercy and GOOD FRUITS!

Proverbs 28:2

282 Because of the transgression of a land, many are its princes; But by a man of understanding and knowledge Right will be prolonged.

John - BUT BY A MAN... God uses men to accomplish His work through... The questions is are we willing to be used?

John - This puts us to ACTION.. we must not just HEAR Gods words but to actually DO THEM.

281 The wicked flee when no one pursues,
But the righteous are bold as a lion.

John - When we are guilty (knowing in our conscience we are wrong) we will flee when no one pursues, run when we are not chased, and hide when no one is looking for us!

John - This shows one of the purposes of trials... is it is one of a few things that can produce patience in us!

John - A mans heart reveals a man.... The bible says the OVERFLOW of the heart.. the mouth speaks... listen to someones words you get a snap shot of what is in their hearts..

John- if you delight in Gods commandments, your children will be blessed.

17 As iron sharpens iron, 
      So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. 

John- when spending time with other believers your countenance is sharpened!

John - A “good understanding” is the by product of doing Gods commandments.

John - Noah was divinely warned... and moved... preparing an ark... When we are divinely warned MOVE!

2714 He who blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, It will be counted a curse to him.

John - The proverbs even talk about early riser and their behavior! Wow how blessed a man is if he learns and obeys....

John - We have NEED of confidence, it keeps us going... it is gas for the car or wind for our sails... without it we cannot move, it give us the ability to have endurance in this race!

2713 Take the garment of him who is surety for a stranger, And hold it in pledge when he is surety for a seductress.

John - This give an example when you have loaned someone who but up his garment as security for a stranger or seductress... much different than when you have loaned to someone for their person needs..

John – It is wise to think about the future when you see evil, by staying out of its path.

John – With wisdom and a glad heart, we will have the vision to deal with those who are against us in a Godly manner.

John – Doing actions based on tradition cannot, and never will make the one performing them have a CLEAN conscience, only Christ can do this through His own blood.

2710 Do not forsake your own friend or your father’s friend, Nor go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity; 
 Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.

John – It is better to have a friend that is close enough to help than a brother who would help but is so far away he cant get to you when you need it.

John – The main point is a ministry built by God not by traditions of man.

John – Hearty – counsel by someone full of, or living the life, life as God has it.

John - If we love we should not conceal it... we should pronounce and display it...

John - We are to no become unproductive, but copy other who through faith and patience have possessed the promises of God in their lives.

271 Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

John - We are human and only have and idea of what is to come, the Lord know our pass and future and He alone can boast about tomorrow.
