517 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

John - Elders (advanced in life) who rule well should be worthy of double honor (reverence) especially those who labor in Gods word and teaching it.

Psalm 89:14-37
Proverbs 25:25-27

2526 A righteous man who falters before the wicked Is like a murky spring and a polluted well.

John - A righteous man who falters (to be greatly shaken) in the presence of the unrighteous, is like a source of nourishment that doesn't fulfill its God given purpose.

  1. 1 Tim. 5:17 Those who labor before the Lord in the things of God are to be rewarded for their service, especially those who teach and serve the people of God.

  2. Prov. 25:26 A righteous man faltering before the wicked brings open shame opon the body. Though he may desire to speak again, who will hear him, since now he has been labeled a failure.The body suffers along with him.
