1.10.10

Genesis 23-24:51

23
13 and he spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, “If you will give it, please hear me. I will give you money for the field; take it from me and I will bury my dead there.”

John - Abraham demanded to pay for what he received, he wasnt looking for a freebe.

24
50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing comes from the LORD; we cannot speak to you either bad or good. 51 Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and let her be your master’s son’s wife, as the LORD has spoken.”

John - The realized if it is from the Lord you can say anything to add to it or take away from it!

Matthew 8:1-17

8
10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

John - Jesus was able to be WOWed... I like this...

Psalm 9:13-20
Proverbs 3:1-6

3
1 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;
2 For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you.

Matt 8: The Leper vs. the Centurion
The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.
Ty: The centurion understood authority. He said he was under authority and he was exercising authority over others. He understood that Jesus was under the authority of his Father and was given the authority over the things of the earth through his Father. Im interested in why Jesus did not just speak and heal his servant when he asked, but instead he offered to go with him to heal his servant. ALmost as if he did not expect the centurion to understand his position. Like John said, Jesus was wowed by this man's understanding of faith and authority. He did not have to tell this man “See that you tell no one" like he told the Leper. This man was obviousely different than the Leper from verse 3 & 4. The centurion said "Lord speak", and the Leper said "Lord, if you are willing". Are there any differences between these two men that stand out to anybody else? Why did Jesus tell the Leper to tell no one?

John - One reason we know He told the lepers to go to the priest is the Law of Moses laid out this method, I think it was to give the children of Israel to see their king, to fulfill all the law and prophets words..
