CCI Opelika One Year Bible Reading 2010

1.20.10

Genesis 41:17-42:17

42 3 So Joseph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain in Egypt. 4 But Jacob did not send Joseph’s brother Benjamin with his brothers, for he said, “Lest some calamity befall him.”

John – Its still fresh on Jacobs mind what happened to Joseph!

42 10 And they said to him, “No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food. 11 We are all one man’s sons; we are honest men; your servants are not spies.”

John – God is not slow to repay He is longsuffering, we see the brothers have told themselves the story of what happened to Joseph until they believe it, if we tell ourselves a lie long enough we will believe it!

Matthew 13:24-46

13 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

13 32 which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown

13 33 Another parable He spoke to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.”

John – In each of the verses you see how something representing the “Kingdom” was planted and then a period of time for growth and then it was ready. God give us the wisdom to see that it takes time between PLANTING and HARVESTING in anything we do.

Psalm 18:1-15

Proverbs 4:1-6

4 4 He also taught me, and said to me:

Let your heart retain my words;
Keep my commands, and live.
5 Get wisdom! Get understanding!
Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you;
Love her, and she will keep you.

John – “Let” its our choice what to do with Gods words, “Keep” we choose to hold on to them, “Get” it is available to us to have WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING… they will preserve and keep those who LOVE them.
