John - HE prepared his ways before God... this is a key ingredient in becoming mighty..

1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
John - How we submit to authority is important to God, and sets us up to being in authority.
Psalm 23:1-6
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

John - The table you prepare for me is BEFORE my enmies, they will get to see you blessed!

John - Dealing unfairly is an abomination to the Lord, not just an error or a mistake, God considers this serious.

1133 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
John - The idea we are going to understand God causes lots of PAIN! It is best to obey and love and refrain from trying to understand what He is planning.
Psalm 22:1-18
Proverbs 20:7
207 The righteous man walks in his integrity;
His children are blessed after him.
John - It is powerful to know that the integrity we walk in will SHOW up in the next generation as blessing for our children!

John – It is either grace or works… one or the other… no combination of the two, either we are saved by grace or by works, thank God we are save by grace (Gods total commitment of Himself to us!)

Since any fool can start a quarrel.
John - There is honor in stopping controversy and foolishness is starting controversy.

John - We have an “INWARD MAN” that is the true YOU.. the spiritual, eternal you... Delight in him and let him be the decision maker.

Rebuke one who has understanding, and he will discern knowledge.
John - We should strive to be one who gains knowledge when we are rebuked!

John - God uses marriage as the metaphor to show our new relationship to Christ and no longer to the law (rules and regulations without a relationship)

And he who has it will abide in satisfaction;
He will not be visited with evil.
John - What more does anyone want than to “abide in satisfaction” we are all looking to find satisfaction and the Lord offers it through fear (reverence, respecting God)

John - When we think free we think to DO WHATEVER we want... we were free from SIN not to do what we want, but to become a SLAVE to righteousness...(slave - to be under bondage, held by constraint) this is a condition we must continually revisit in our minds.

5 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John - Sin reigned through death but GRACE (a total commitment of God to US) reigns through righteousness to ETERNAL life. Eternal life is Gods life , He is eternal and we can enter into that life through FAITH in Christ.
Psalm 15:1-5
15 4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised,
But he honors those who fear the LORD;
He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 He who does not put out his money at usury,
Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
John - Vile people despise the righteous, as we walk we should ONLY swear if we will follow through NO MATTER WHAT, and we should not loan our money at UNFAIR rates of interest.
Proverbs 19:18-19
19 18 Chasten your son while there is hope,
And do not set your heart on his destruction.19 A man of great wrath will suffer punishment; For if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.
John - If you rescue certain people you will have to do it AGAIN and AGAIN... We should be sure we are doing what God wants us to do instead of trying to do what “seems” right.

John - Abraham was “fully convinced” about God not about his circumstances... That is what God gives us the ability to be “fully convinced” about HIM!

John - This is so often the problem... WE WORK for God and expect wages from him.... it is a debt HE OWES.... This is wrong... we OWE HIM.... and our work cannot begin to match His amazing grace and anything He gives us is out of LOVE!

And an idle person will suffer hunger.
16 He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul,
But he who is careless of his ways will die.
John - By obeying God we keep our SOUL (mind, will emotions) and we know that is a MIRACLE!

John - praise god He has passed over the sins we babe previously committed

But a prudent wife is from the LORD.
John- natural fathers leave earthly resources, but God gives a prudent wife!

John - Notice a Jew is not on the OUTSIDE but on the INSIDE, it is a heart condition not a physical family.

John - Today’s trouble exchanging the truth of God for the LIE of worshiping and serving the creature instead of the creator.

John - EVERY man is a friend to one who gives gifts.

John - Worship causes some people to despise those who are worshiping the Lord, because of the condition of THEIR heart.

John - The gospel IS THE POWER of God... For in IT the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith (like step by step, mountain to mountain, valley to valley) .. for the just shall live BY (holding on to, life line, provision) of faith.
Psalm 9:13-20
916 The LORD is known by the judgment He executes;
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.
John - The LORD is not only know by HIS miracles but by HIS judgments... this judgment was seen in the severity of the CROSS of Calvary.

And he who speaks lies will not escape.
John - The word of God promises if you speak lies you WILL not escape, our society has made hero’s of those who can kill, lie and steal and seem to have no regrets about it, God will not let them escape.

John - Paul took courage, he didnt just have it, he took it. From where? from his relationship with the Lord!

John - Integrity is greater than money.

John- notice he didn't inquire of the Lord, this is very important to God

John- Paul is a prisoner yet get had python in a place of authority to lead the decisions

John- a friend defined must be friendly !

John - So even when we dont get along just right, the truth is if you have found a wife, God has given you FAVOR in human form.

John - Paul was encountered by God for this purpose to make him a minister and a witness of what he had seen, also what was yet to be revealed to him. MINISTER/WITNESS.

Proverbs 18:20-21
1820 A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;
From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
John - My lips produce GROCERIES, PRODUCE and that is what my stomach (inner storage) gets full of!

John - Notice the only thing Festus knew is Paul believed Jesus is alive and the jews wanted him killed for that!

With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
John - FAVOR will surround him (righteous) as a SHIELD.
Proverbs 18:19
19 A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city,
And contentions are like the bars of a castle.
John - a brother offended is hard to win, this is why we should, as much as possible with us, live a harmony will ALL!

John - A good vertical relationship with God and a horizontal relationship with other men, is a goal of harmony we should strive for.

John - The LORD alone... not an army, not our government, not my job, not my health, not my bank account not anything else, the LORD alone makes me dwell in saftey!

John - The Lord shields us, we can know if we trust in Him that what gets around the shield is His will for our lives... when we are walking with Him, HE IS OUR GLORY!

But who can bear a broken spirit?
15 The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge,
And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
John - A strong spirit (set on the Lord) WILL sustain us even in sickness... and the heart of the PRUDENT (intelligent and understanding) acquires (gets, obtain) knowledge

John - Day and night, always thinking about it always pondering it and working with it to see how it applies in every situation.

And before honor is humility.
John - Right before you are destroyed your heart is PROUD, arrogant, but the preface to HONOR is being humble!

John - Paul suffered many things beatings, ship wreck, in prison just to name a few, but He found his strength in the Lord and walked faithfully proclaiming what HE KNEW!
Psalm 150:1-6
Proverbs 18:9-10
189 He who is slothful in his work
Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.
10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.
John - The righteous run - (to bring or move quickly, hurry) and are safe... when trouble comes quickly run in your mind to the TOWER of the Lord, his words are truth. You are loved, destine for His purpose and under His watchful eye.

John - This is a way to look at growth, the roots go down to supply the plant, they are unseen but VITAL, the fruit goes up is seen but seasonal!
Acts 21:1-17
21 13 Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
John - Pauls passion for the Lord Jesus and committment is a testimony of his conversion.

188 The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,
And they go down into the inmost body.
John - When we listen to tales (gossip) in enters us at a deep level and begins to grow into negative feelings.
