2 Samuel 17:1-29
John 19:23-42
19:28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” 29 Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
John - I cant help but think when I read this scripture about the woman at the well, notice Jesus said He thirst, at this moment He experienced everything sin is, He felt what the woman at the well felt, then He completed His work so you can have a well to drink from that you will NEVER thirst again!
Psalm 119:129-152
Proverbs 16:12-13
16:12 It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness,
For a throne is established by righteousness.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings,
And they love him who speaks what is right.
John - Gods words shows us that to establish something "do it by righteousness" or it will not be established, wickedness is like the plant that is here today and gone tomorrow, it is short lived, righteousness is true and eternal.

2 Samuel 15:23-16:23
John 18:25-19:22
18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
John - This is a subject Jesus continually spoke on, and we must contently keep in our mind, HIS KINGDOM is NOT of this world, if it were we would have reason to be discouraged, Jesus's kingdom is the kingdom of HEAVEN!
Psalm 119:113-128
Proverbs 16:10-11
16:10 Divination is on the lips of the king;
His mouth must not transgress in judgment.
11 Honest weights and scales are the LORD’s;
All the weights in the bag are His work.
John - The Lord deals in honesty, trust and justice... He works through these disciplines, walking in them bring protection and sweet trust in the Lord for your provision.

2 Samuel 14-15:22
John 18:1-24
18:11 So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”
John - Jesus had made the decision to do what His Fathers will was for His life, this is the thing we MUST decide, will I do what Gods will for my life is?
Psalm 119:97-112
Proverbs 16:8-9
16:8 Better is a little with righteousness,
Than vast revenues without justice.
9 A man’s heart plans his way,
But the LORD directs his steps.
John - We have a part, the Lord knows we plan the way of our lives by our choices, BUT the Lord has prepared "good works" in advance for us and He directs our steps to accomplish them!

John 17:1-26
17:9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them.
John - I have never notice Jesus says I pray for the ones you have given me, but I do not pray for the world....
Psalm 119:81-96
Proverbs 16:6-7
16:6 In mercy and truth
Atonement is provided for iniquity;
And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil.
7 When a man’s ways please the LORD,
He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
John - Let our ways (thoughts, actions, disposition) please the Lord, by the powerful foundation of our faith.. Love God, Love our neighbor as ourselves.

John 16:1-33
16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John - Peace is available to the believer, but we must actively choose it second by second, hour by hour by pointing our thought toward Jesus and not a greater solution to our problems. In focusing on Jesus we can have cheer (joy) as a by product, because He has overcome this whole world, received the victory, and now gives it to us!
Psalm 119:65-80
Proverbs 16:4-5
16: The LORD has made all for Himself,
Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.
5 Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD;
Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.
John - Lord let us recognize everyday the way to stay humble is not to think wrongly,we get proud when we think we are in charge and we are responsible for all the good things and gifts in our life, Lord all good comes from your hand without you we are nothing.

John 12:20-50
12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” 33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
John - 33 says this HE said signifying (showing) by what death He would die, I have never notice He was pointing to how He would die, I have only heard this used as a "Praise Jesus and He will draw people to Himself" thought, this is looking at it completely different.
Psalm 118:19-29
Proverbs 15:27-28
15:27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house,
But he who hates bribes will live.
28 The heart of the righteous studies how to answer,

1 Samuel 29-31:13
John 11:55-12:19
12:4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said, 5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.
John- Notice Judas's lies and stealing started before the taking of the money to betray Christ, he was stealing the money from the donation box for the poor while he was walking with Jesus.
Psalm 118:1-18
Proverbs 15:24-26
15: 26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD,

John - Notice they saw Lazarus's death as a tragedy, Jesus saw it as an opportunity for GOD to be glorified!
Psalm 117:1-2
Proverbs 15:22-23
22 Without counsel, plans go awry,
But in the multitude of counselors they are established.

Psalm 116:1-19
Proverbs 15:20-21
15: 21 Folly is joy to him who is destitute of discernment,

John - If we enter through Jesus we find pasture, the place of provision and protection, the sweet place in God. The thief has a job to do in our lives is to try to STEAL what God as for us to do, KILL what God wants to bring through us, and DESTROY what God has already used us in, he will fail.
Psalm 115:1-18
115: 12 The LORD has been mindful of us;
He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the LORD,
Both small and great.
John - The Lord has not forgotten us HE is mindful of us!! He will bless us, it is an EXCITING thing to know that the Lord is with us and has not FORGOTTEN who we are and whos we are!
Proverbs 15:18-19
15: 19 The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns,
But the way of the upright is a highway.
John - The way (life, attitude, manner of living) of the lazy man is a hedge of thorns (hard to go through, painful not created to move forward, BUT the way of the upright is a highway (build and design for moving and less difficult to do so.

Psalm 113-114:8
Proverbs 15:15-17

John 8:31-59
8:34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
John - WHOEVER commits sin is a slave to it, that is the miracle of SALVATION, we are no longer slaves.. free indeed to choose what life we will live, a life for our SELF or a life for HIM!
8:47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
Psalm 112:1-10
112: 5 A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion.
John - (affairs - business, occupation, acts, matter, speech, word, speaking) and the words discretion is with JUSTICE. Always remember the scripture teaches when we give to the poor we LEND to the Lord.
Proverbs 15:12-14

1 Samuel 17-18:4
18:3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 4 And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.
John - This is a great picture David and Jonathan covenanted... then Jonathan took off his outward signs of royalty, his very personal items and gave them to David, the same way Jesus when we covenant with Him takes off His clean garment and give it to us making us WHITE as snow, and sinless by His blood.
John 8:21-30
8:28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.
John - When you lift up the Son of Man... You will know... That is powerful, when you lift up Jesus you will know, not think or feel, you will know!
Psalm 111:1-10
Proverbs 15:11
15:11 Hell and Destruction are before the LORD;
So how much more the hearts of the sons of men.

1 Samuel 15-16:23
15:22 So Samuel said:
“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the LORD?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.
John - The Lord does not need our sacrifices, He is delighted by our OBEYING His voice, how easy it is for us ot think He wants us to give up something physical, when it is all about our WILL.
John 8:1-20
8:20 These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one laid hands on Him, for His hour had not yet come.
John - God has a time and a place for everything, Jesus had no one lay hands on Him for His hours had not yet come, what a reassurance for us, things in our life will happen when our time has come for those things, not before, the Lord is in control.
Psalm 110:1-7
Proverbs 15:8-10
15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD,
But the prayer of the upright is His delight.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD,
But He loves him who follows righteousness.
John - The sacrifice and the way of the wicked is an abomination... Wow even their sacrifice? Yes.. The Lord loves him who follows righteousness and the uprights prayer, He delights and loves these things... Lord let us delight YOU and do things you LOVE!!

Psalm 109:1-31
109:17 As he loved cursing, so let it come to him;
As he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him.
John - David speaks to God and reveals another look at Sowing and Reaping, if you love cursing, it will come on you and if you do not DELIGHT in blessing you wont have them close to you. Lord let us DELIGHT in you and your blessing and refuse to speak against others, let you handle what others do!
Proverbs 15:5-7
15:5 A fool despises his father’s instruction,
But he who receives correction is prudent.
6 In the house of the righteous there is much treasure,
But in the revenue of the wicked is trouble.
7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge,
But the heart of the fool does not do so.
John - The righteous has TREASURE which is wealth, riches, and abundance but in the REVENUE which is profit and gain of the wicked, they find trouble. The difference is always clear in the scriptures between the wicked and the righteous and what their life produces...

1 Samuel 12-13:23
13:12 then I said, ‘The Philistines will now come down on me at Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the LORD.’ Therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering.”
John - Saul described his reason for doing what he should not do as "I felt compelled", Lord let us realize when we are pressed not to allow it to compell us to do something outside of you plan...
John 7:1-30
7: 17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
John - This is a GREAT lesson "If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God.." We often get so focused on doctrine in todays society, but if you SEEK Gods will, knowing doctrine will be the byproduct of that life, you will know where the words are coming from.
Psalm 108:1-13
Proverbs 15:4
15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
John - How beautifully the Proverb describes the wholesome words of a person.... TREE OF LIFE which was the key to eternal life, which brought health, healing, and its leaves we for the healing of the nations... God teach us to have WHOLESOME words...

1 Samuel 10-11:15
John 6:43-71
6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
John - Life (true life, abundant eternal life) is found in the Spirit, the flesh (our own way, selfishness) profits nothing. The words (Jesus words) are life and Spirit, in His words you will be norished, built up, encouraged and sent fort.
Psalm 107:1-43
Proverbs 15:1-3
15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,
But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place,
Keeping watch on the evil and the good.
John - Two points are made in this proverb, (1) how we answer others determines much of what happens, a soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word (not soft) stirs up anger, which will only cause more conflict. (2) When we think of what God is watching it is easy to think He is looking out for evil, but Gods eyes are on the evil and THE GOOD, in EVERY place!

John 5:24-47
5: 30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
John - I can do nothing of MYSELF, Jesus said... what a lesson for us, through God we can do things, without Him we can do NOTHING of eternal importance... Also in this scripture we can see the key to righteous judgment is to not seek your own will, but of the Father.
Psalm 106:1-12
