2 Samuel 2:12-3:39

John 13:1-30

13:8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”

John - When Jesus said this He gave us an insight that if you do not humble yourself and receive from Jesus, you cannot have part with Him.

Psalm 119:1-16
Proverbs 15:29-30

29 The LORD is far from the wicked,
But He hears the prayer of the righteous.

John - God hears our prayers, let us be full of praise and encouragement for our God because He is good to US!

  1. John 13:8 From the mouth of the simple came his own destruction in saying, "you shall never wash my feet".How many times has this been the way we've reacted with God. As he stands ready to wipe away our filth, because of our pride, we didn't want him to trouble himself with us.In this statement is the "hallmark" of self-condemnation. It's not that I should WANT Christ to wash me, but I should realize I NEED him to wash me.Therefore, I choose to forgive me because I need forgiveness.

  2. Prov. 15:29 Draw nigh unto God and he will draw nigh unto you.I push myself in His way, I throw myself at His feet of mercy.Like the woman with the issue of blood we must trouble ourselves to get in the "direct path" of Christ.Sinners try to avoid him and get out of the way; we rush towards Him while others run away.
