CCI Opelika One Year Bible Reading 2010

5.16.10

1 Samuel 18:5-19:24
John 8:31-59

8:34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

John - WHOEVER commits sin is a slave to it, that is the miracle of SALVATION, we are no longer slaves.. free indeed to choose what life we will live, a life for our SELF or a life for HIM!

8:47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Psalm 112:1-10

112: 5 A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion.

John - (affairs - business, occupation, acts, matter, speech, word, speaking) and the words discretion is with JUSTICE. Always remember the scripture teaches when we give to the poor we LEND to the Lord.

Proverbs 15:12-14

15: 14 The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge,
But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

John - Seek knowledge from the Lord, He has and knows everything and He loves to talk and to teach us through the Holy Spirit.

  1. John 8:34 A slave is driven by his master and he must obey the commands of another with little to no resistance.When allowed to sin will control our lives as believers, but we do not have to obey its commands since we have been set free from the law of sin and death.

  2. John 8:47 This is like the bumper sticker that states "If you can read this then you are too close so back the ---- off!" When following this intelligent person with the bumper sticker, you see the words even from a distance, but you have to get up close to see it clear enough to understand whats being said.
