CCI Opelika One Year Bible Reading 2010

5.27.10

2 Samuel 12:1-31
John 16:1-33

16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John - Peace is available to the believer, but we must actively choose it second by second, hour by hour by pointing our thought toward Jesus and not a greater solution to our problems. In focusing on Jesus we can have cheer (joy) as a by product, because He has overcome this whole world, received the victory, and now gives it to us!

Psalm 119:65-80
Proverbs 16:4-5

16: The LORD has made all for Himself,
Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.
5 Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD;
Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.

John - Lord let us recognize everyday the way to stay humble is not to think wrongly,we get proud when we think we are in charge and we are responsible for all the good things and gifts in our life, Lord all good comes from your hand without you we are nothing.

  1. John 16:33 The possibility of having peace in the midst of chaos and turmoil seem almost impossible, yet that's what Christ gives.Where we dwell does not determine what dwells in us.We do have a choice between "life" or "death",however Christ gives so much more,he gives us ABILITY.

  2. Prov. 16:4,5 The Lord has made all, therefore he gets to choose the destiny of each man as each man chooses the place he desires to dwell in.Whether I am a foreigner or city dweller its all the same to God since he created both.Regardless of where I live and how I live, the King is still the King and the law is still the law, neither conforms to my ideals.
